The tournament "The Open Source Masters", organized by Ingres, takes place September 18, 2009 at "Golfpark Idstein", nearby Frankfurt, Germany. Bringing together open source experts with the ones interested in open source to discuss the advantages of the implementation of open source software besides being cost-efficient, is the target for the American company providing open source database management. ((otrs)) is one out of nine companies sponsoring this event.

Golf and open source: this combination seems unusual at first sight as open source was formerly perceived as young and a kind of funky. Golf, on the contrary, was perceived as exclusive, old-fashioned and established. A lot has changed during the last years and today open source has matured and offers a broad variety of software solutions applicable in every company - no matter which branch and company size. The combination of license-cost-free software with professional services has become an attractive alternative to the proprietary license models and, being forced to look for reasonable software during the economic crisis, many companies have chosen an open source alternative. ((otrs)), as the provider of OTRS, the leading open source solution for service management, is one of the winners of the economic crisis.

The secret of OTRS' and all open source software's success is the community! Corresponding with the community's dictum to give and share, the golf tournament combines business with charitable purpose and donates all proceeds of the silent auction, to be hold after the tournament, to the Rudolf Walther Foundation, an initiative to support world's suffering children in need.
